Practice: Stocks
Fourteen scored problems on what a share is worth to its owner: ownership, total return, market cap, dividends, buybacks, dilution, splits, and who's paid first.
What you'll do
This set works through the Stocks module with numbers. You'll calculate an owner's slice of a company, a year's total return, a market capitalization, and a dividend yield. You'll compare borrowing with selling shares, work out what a buyback does to earnings per share and what new shares do to your percentage, see through a stock split, and follow the money down the ladder when a company is sold. Each answer comes with the working, and your score appears as you go. Nothing is recorded outside this browser.
This draws on
Work through the problems in order and check each answer once you've committed to it. The score counts your first try. Every company here is fictional, and the last problem uses the optional lesson on preferred stock.
