Practice: Judging Information

Thirteen scored problems on spotting conflicts of interest, the anatomy of a pump-and-dump, the arithmetic behind misleading performance claims, and using AI without being misled by it.

Practice set · Lesson 5 of 5 · About 12 min · Intermediate · Members · Last reviewed October 2026

What you'll do

This set works through the module on judging what you read and hear. You'll name the conflict of interest behind four kinds of post, follow the money through a pump-and-dump and work out what the promoters made and a late buyer lost, undo two performance claims with arithmetic, match five common distortions to examples, and sort sensible uses of an AI assistant from risky ones. Each answer comes with the working, and your score appears as you go. Nothing is recorded outside this browser.

This draws on

Work through the problems in order and check each answer once you've committed to it. The score counts your first try. Every person, company, post, and number here is made up.
